The Day I Became A Woman

It was 6 am Thursday morning, on the 16th of September 1999. It was the day just after I have finished my 3 days UPSR exams. I woke up, feeling excited to go to school and not having to study anymore, as my big exam has just ended. Little that I know, it was the day I became a woman.


I get off from my bed, and felt warm and wet down there so I went straight to the bathroom to check what’s going on. And to my horror, I saw red spots. Like a lot. I know it was blood. I got panicked. I thought I have a disease or injured or something. Gosh.. I didn’t know what to do. But I calmed myself down and told myself not to panic as it was only a period. Just like my mom, my sisters and every other girl will experience every month.




However, despite the fact that I know it is just period, I refused to ask anyone for help or guidance or whatever. Not even my mom or sisters! I felt really embarrass about it. Because at that time I refused to believe that I am no longer a little girl. I refused to believe that I will have blood discharging from my uterus every single month from that moment onwards. I do not want anyone to know that I have become A WOMAN.





At that moment, I felt like being a woman is not fun and full of responsibilities. Plus, it was strange and somewhat frightening seeing blood on my pink flowery panties. It was too embarrassing for me! So I decided to keep my mouth shut and not telling anyone about it. Especially my family members. Don’t know why I was so embarrass about it! I felt like it was abnormal to have my period at the age of 12. Both my sisters had their periods when they were in secondary school.


So after I have taken my bath, I sought for the sample of Kotex that they gave us in school. (Luckily I had some Kotex samples with me! Otherwise the whole secret of me being period will reveal if I ask my mom for a pad! Hehe)







So anyway, I took one pad and figure it out by myself how to wear it on my knickers! So I just open the wrapper, peel off the paper, and stick it in my underwear. I didn’t know whether I should put it on the center, or put it towards the back a little. And I also did not know what are the wings were for! Haha. You know what, instead of stick the wings and wrap it around the side of my panties, I stick them on the side in between my thighs! And I still refuse to ask anyone’s help because I was so embarrass! LOL =P


Anyways.. after I got dressed, I went to school feeling so weird! I told my best friend, Aisyah about it. (cuz she had her first period earlier than me- in January 1999 and she kinda expert in these things..). So she told me about everything I need to know - how to wear it, how long period will last, about pregnancy, why we period, how to mandi wajib and stuff, since I had zero knowledge about it. She was the first person to know about me being ‘a woman’..hehe. I would refer to her anything that I need to know. She was like my woman’s doctor at that time. (Though I got 2 big sisters and mom to refer to! But well..I was too embarrass. Haha)

At that age, and at that particular of time, there are so many things I’d like to know about being a woman. I wanna know about my own body. About menstruation, about virginity, about sex, about periods, about tampons versus pads, about PMS, about my body changes, and so many things! But we are always restricted to know about these kinda things. Things that have something to do with our genital parts or sex-related stuff are the things that we are not told when we were young or told we shouldn’t ask! I guess it has become part of our culture not to reveal these kinds of information to kids.. But for me, I think that Malaysian girls should be empowered to know about their body and emotional changes cuz I believe that girls may have so many questions about their body and the changes that they’ll go through in life.





But they always hold us back. Stop us from being what we can be and know what we should know. I know that asking questions does not make me a bad person.. and I also know that I have the right to know about any things and the truth will help me grow.

Thank goodness Kotex has revealed it for me! Now, all the questions that have been wandering on my mind and in my head have finally been answered!





I stumbled upon the new Kotex website and found some great information that I think every girl should know! I love that website! It is so cool and nicely design that covers every information that you need to know! They make getting your period not exactly exciting, but it’s OK. =)

Lelaki Idaman Kalbu Saya

1) Jenis bangun pagi/awal (paling lambat pun pukul 10 am. Walaupun saya jenis bangun lambat. hahahah. Oppsy! - supaya dia boleh buat saya rasa macam nak bangun awal jugak. LOL ;p) 

2) Never miss his breakfast every morning. (I always find it sangat comel, lelaki yang pentingkan breakfast) =)

3) Tidak merokok pagi petang siang malam mahupun ketika stress.

4) Suka minum jus buah-buahan atau pun mineral water. Bukan Coke, Sprite, Kickapoo, mahupun rude Beer. heh. And yes, he doesn't drink alcoholic drinks too, of course.

5) Never miss his solat

6) Shampoo rambut tiap-tiap hari. (Walaupun saya pendek, tak dapat nak bau apabila bercakap dengan dia..)

7) Pembersih.

8) Pakai shower gel instead of sabun buku, gosok gigi at least 2 kali sehari-especially before tidur, pakai Listerine, pakai cleanser everyday, pakai shampoo ikut jenis rambut dia bukan main hantam je. (dalam erti kata lain, dia ni gedik la. So dia boleh geng dengan saya. haha)

Closet Revamping

Hello guys!


Sorry for the sporadic updates.. It's just that life's a little busy and messy right now.. (and my face looked like crap..thanks to it!)

How I wish I could accomplish everything in one night! The thing is, I've got so much to do but so little time and energy! I have to do my report for the internship thing (submit on 24th - now baru buat half), I have to deal with the sales (tak habis2 lagi! sobs..tapi tinggal about suku je kot..so ok gak la), I have to pay my debts!, I have to do some advertorials, I have to register for classes, I have to kemas barang nak balik campus, I have to go shopping to buy stuff for asrama thing (curtain, carpets, food, etc), have to go to class, I have to kemas bilik.. otherwise mamito bising..(because my room looked like a store room! haha)...and the list goes on and on...

Seriously, I haven't relax and have my 'me time' ever since I started the sales.. (because of the list yang panjang, and the stuff yang sangat banyak..I had a hard time dealing with it all by myself..cuz when I started the sale, I forgot that I got other commitments as well.. So sukahati je main ambik order banyak2..haha..but anyways..hmm..nevermind..)

Okay..stop complaining Cik Wani..

So..anyways..today, I have accomplished one mission: Cleaning out my room and closet! It took me 7 hours to get everything done!! (that's how bad the situation was!)


Oh gosh..it is tiring to wipe everything, dealing with habuk2, rearrange clothes in my wardrobe according to color, get the air-cond fixed, pack up all my old books, rearrange my cosmetics and frangrances collection, and most importantly, put all the bags back into their boxes and dustbags or at least, put them back in place.. So it wouldn't be such an eye sore!

Hmm...so do you wanna see my messy and dirty bag closet?

See..this is what I mean..I have to put them back into place.. As you can see, they were all over the place!! Sungguh tak senonoh! =P

So..what I did was.. I emptied the space completely and divided the bags into two parts: Designer bags and High Street&Downtown bags.. hehe

So whichever bag that has it's own dustbag, I'll put it back where it supposed to belong..




And then for those bags which I bought from MNG, Zara, M&S, AX, RL, Warehouse, DP, Vincci, Flea Markets, Bazaars, Tie Rack, and etc etc.. I put one side..

And then while I was rearrange the bags to park them accordingly.. I saw this Ikea Shoe Boxes which I bought few months ago..

Then suddenly I got an idea to put all the small leather goods, clutches, evening bags, etc into those white boxes!

And then later, I looked for some other Ikea boxes that I have, and also the Hermes and LV boxes, to put all the other bags..so it won't be messy like before!



And....









I'm done!!

All the designer bags I put them in the coloured boxes and those which I bought from Downtown or High Street brands, I put them in the white shoe boxes!

So now..my Bag Closet is neat and tidy! Yeay! =)

Sophie's Guilty Pleasure

Every girl has her own way of enjoying their own sweet little time to pamper themselves when they are having some beauty treatments in their own room. Some girls like to hear music while applying make-up, some prefer to sit in a bathtub and reading a magazine while waiting for her facial mask to dry up. But for Sophie, she would prefer to drink lots and lotsa amount of Nescafe Latte Can drinks which she’d pour into her pink coffee mug and add some of her favorite whipped cream on top of her latte drink while getting dressed every single morning. She would never miss to do this every morning while getting ready. She said it is her routine to drink coffee every time she gets ready in the morning as coffee really boost up her energy and could make her focus even more.

So on one fine day, a good looking guy from her workplace which she has been eyeing for quite some time, asked her out. When Sophie heard about it, she got really really excited and was over the moon! However, her anxious behavior won’t let her relax at all. She keeps on drinking her coffee while applying her make up. It’s like every time she finishes one process of applying her make up, she’d drink one big gulp of her Nescafe Latte. This is also one of the things she’d do every time she got really nervous and tensed up. All of a sudden, she did not know what to wear, how to apply her make up or even which shoes goes with which bag! She keeps on changing from one outfit to another, and at the same time, she keeps on gulping her latte.

So while Sophie was in the middle of her pre-date preparations she heard a knock on her bedroom door. Thinking it was her flatmate Susan, she called “ya..yea ya.. Juz kam ein Susan! Help mi! Ai dono wat tu wer!!!” and turned round to see her date David standing there with Calla Lilies in his right hand and chocolates on the other hand. He was 45 minutes early, and Susan had just let him in. Sophie was shocked to see him at the door and froze while holding her cup of latte on her left hand and a scissors in the other. She was wearing her zebra printed knickers with her pale green camisole with her brother’s necktie tied around her neck and was wearing only one boots on her left foot. And to make it worse, her upper lip and chin was covered with a fat amount and layers of the whipped cream that looked as if she’s ready to shave her beard and moustache!

She froze and stood there for a few minutes not knowing how to react! David laughed out loud and with his surprised look he said, “Ohhh jeezz!! Ai din noe u're a man! Yu often shayve, Sofi?! Dat eis soo wiyerd! Ai olwiz tot yu r wan femenin gal. Bat wel, nevurmayn ai stil wan tu go auwt on a deyt wif yu. Ai wil weyt fo yu dawnsterz, k! Do teyk yor taim Sofi! Aim rilly sory ai am tu erly!”. Then David quickly put the flowers on her bedside table and in a flash he closed the door and ran downstairs to wait for her. It all happened too fast. Sophie was tremendously shocked and embarrassed of what just happened. She’s always known for her stylish personality at work and then in just few seconds, her chic personality has dropped terribly! She knew she had blown away her chance to be with the guy of her dreams because she really thought she has killed any chance of romance. But despite the fact that she had her fashion faux pas moment, she still went out on a date with David. In fact, they became so close ever since the embarrassing incident.

As a student who earns no income, we need to budget our spending. We need to pay for our makan, our transportation costs, textbooks, notebooks, stationeries, medical stuff, coffees, Wi-Fi prepaid card, and most importantly, our prepaid top-up cards!! (I cannot survive without my handphone with me 24-7!)
However, all these things are not cheap! If we don’t mend our free spending ways.. we sure cannot survive!
Let me just briefly explain an average student’s expenses, so that you’d understand that it’s not cheap being a student these days..haha

1) Food per day (breakfast, lunch, dinner and maybe some snack in between meals) = RM 15 to RM 20 (About RM 5 per meal). So, for a month it would be like RM 450 to RM 600!
2) Prepaid Top-Up cards = RM 10 per day, so for a month, it’ll be RM 300!
3) Wi-Fi prepaid card for personal notebook = RM 10 per week. So for a month, it’ll be RM 40
4) Transportation per week. Well, it depends on the person, if he/she travels a lot, then of course, the cost of traveling that he/she incurs would be a lot too! Like for me, I would put aside about RM 450 for my fuel, and not inclusive of the parking/tolls. (haihh)

So grand total for these four vital expenses is roughly about, RM 1200 per month and that is not including the other expenses! And the PTPTN loan that most of the IIUM students received is so much little as compared to that amount!

Oh gosh.. this is ridiculously a lot!! All these while, I never really care about cutting out my expenses because I am pretty much financially stable. However, the other day, when I listed down all of my expenses in a month, I was shocked! I spend like nobody’s business! Especially on prepaid cards and internet! Well, I gotta admit..my handphone, my laptop and the internet is my life. I repeat, they are my life! I really cannot live without them! But looking at the amount that I spent on them when I’m in my campus, I really really need to cut my spending right now! Duduk dekat campus memang susah nak save kalau takde plan2 macam ni! Yela, duduk rumah internet 'free', call sorang budak tu je, and makan free..so memang dapat save banyak la.. =P

Silent Mode..

I have finished my 3 months practical training with the Valiram Group, last Friday.

And tomorrow I have to go back to campus, as classes already begun! Demn.. Not enough rest..sobs.. =(

P/S: Kelly (my supervisor) told me that after I was on board in April 2009, and then all of a sudden came a lot of applicants sending in their resume for practical training! Fyi, VG never have any applicants for practical training before! And I'm the first! hehee.. (Oh, btw.. the second one is a girl from France, and the third one is a guy from London. I believe, both are the daughter/son of the Principals. And they will finish in about 2 weeks time.. While me, will be leaving tomorrow!! =(
So today, after work.. I gotta run to some Hallmark store to buy some cards for all the people who have been very nice to me! ;)
